Why Learn with Jen?

Have you wanted to join a ukulele club but worry you aren't "good enough", or do you already have some experience and want to expand your skills? That's where I come in! My ukulele lessons help you build the skills and confidence you need to play comfortably with others and reach the next level.

I work with teens to seniors in a fun, relaxed, and supportive setting, with the personalized guidance only in-person instruction can offer.

Ukulele 101 Group Class

Whether you’re brand new to music, want to build confidence before joining a ukulele club, or are simply intrigued by this joyful little instrument, this class is for you! You’ll learn how to hold a ukulele comfortably, play common chords and switch between them smoothly, and strum along to fun songs with a steady rhythm. We’ll do some singing, too! No experience needed. Just bring a ukulele and a willingness to play. 

Ukulele Continued Group Class

This class is for students who have completed Ukulele 101 or have equivalent experience. You’ll pick up new chords and strumming patterns, improve your ability to strum and sing at the same time, learn to read music, and expand your song repertoire. Prerequisites: Knowledge of at least 8 to 10 chords, familiarity with the island strum, and the ability to play steady down strums while switching between C, Am, F, and G without looking at chord diagrams. Bring your own ukulele and “The Daily Ukulele: 365 Songs for Better Living” (yellow book) by Jim and Liz Beloff, available at Lamorinda Music or online.
